Middle Island Resources expands Bobija gold mineralization footprint in Serbia
Middle Island Resources' second phase drilling results at the Bobija project in Serbia have expanded the gold-silver-base metal mineralization footprint to approximately 80,000 square meters, with the orebody remaining open in multiple directions.
Perth, Australia – July 2, 2026 — Middle Island Resources (ASX: MDI) has announced the final assay results from the second phase of reverse circulation drilling at its Bobija project in Serbia. This drilling successfully linked the previously separate Central, North, and West mineralized zones into a single continuous, large-scale mineralized system, bringing the gold-silver-base metal mineralization coverage area to approximately 80,000 square meters.
- Phase two drilling comprised a total of 17 holes for 1,363 meters. Key intercepts include:
- Hole BMLRC022: 41 meters at 1.03 g/t gold, 52.9 g/t silver, 0.17% copper, 0.94% lead, 1.26% zinc from 1 meter;
- Hole BMLRC023 (Central Zone): 40 meters at 1.23 g/t gold, 64.0 g/t silver, 0.15% copper, 0.99% lead, 0.92% zinc from 1 meter;
- Hole BMLRC028 (Central Zone): 28 meters at 1.18 g/t gold, 66.6 g/t silver, 0.19% copper, 1.22% lead, 1.62% zinc from 20 meters;
- Hole BMLRC024 (infill drilling north of the historic Central Zone): 13 meters at 1.87 g/t gold, 93.2 g/t silver, 0.30% copper, 1.46% lead, 0.68% zinc from 3 meters.
Company CEO Peter Spiers said: “Bobija is rapidly emerging as a large, shallow gold-silver discovery. Every zone we have drilled has returned broad, near-surface mineralization, and we have yet to find the boundaries of the system. Historical work primarily targeted lead, zinc, and barite, largely overlooking gold, but our drilling consistently demonstrates that gold and silver are major components of the Bobija system.”
Mineralization remains open to the east and west on every section, and multiple intercepts at the current drilling limits are high-grade. The company is planning phase three drilling, focusing on testing multiple open extensions at the northern and southern margins of the current targets, as well as evaluating continuity between and within the Central, West, and North zones.
The Bobija project comprises five tenements totaling 182 square kilometers. The company holds a 10-year option to acquire two granted mining licenses from local company Bobija doo Ljubovija. The vendor will receive a 0.5% net smelter return royalty capped at €500,000 (approximately A$825,000).
Middle Island Resources will attend the Noosa Mining Investor Conference, to be held from July 22 to 24, 2026, in Noosa, Queensland.
